Board Meeting & Elections--Please join us!......Akron German Family Society

All members are welcome and encouraged to attend our yearly board meeting with elections to be held on Sunday November 6th at 2pm.  This is the time of year that board members come together to provide an individual update of their board position for the year. It's a time for people to hear a detailed overview of the vast amount of work each board member provides to and for our club.
***After the board meeting/elections there will be food and refreshments provided to all that attend. It's our way of showing thanks to those that took the time to come and be a part of this important yearly event.

Together, each and every member, creates a vibrant and healthy club that promotes authentic German culture and customs.

Come to our "Grape Festival" Traubenfest 2016 ...Sat. Nov 12th Call now to make your reservations!

It's getting closer to Traubenfest or Grape-Wine Fest!
Call now to make your reservations!

Our members consider this to be one of their most favorite events. Saturday November 12, at 6pm is the night to come ready to grab surprise bags of fruit, toys, and even wine hanging from lattice above the dance floor! You also might find special chocolates or candies in the mystery bags. Keep in mind that you are "stealing" these gifts while the Youth Group members "police" are circling the dance stage. If you're caught stealing, you go directly to "jail" and a simple donation to the Youth group will quickly get you out on "parole" and ready to grab more prizes!
Little kids, teenagers, and adults love the Traubenfest!

The German Family Society will be decorated with a winery theme. Enjoy a variety of wines, cheeses, crackers, and appetizers, prior to a delicious homemade meal. A delicious assortment of desserts will also be available. Entertainment and music for an evening of dancing will be provided by K & C Band.

***Reservations are required, prior to Monday November 7th, by calling Mrs. Renate Moellmann at 330-633-3949. If you are unable to attend, please call and give notice so that others may be added.

German American Day 2016 ......Akron German Family Society

Some events have special meanings that touch the heart of those in attendance. German American Day was one of those! Kristen Misbrener, the evenings guest speaker, provided a perfect and personal connection of what German American Day means to her. She shared many close memories of her recent trip to Germany over this past summer, while traveling with the Youth Group. Kristen expressed such a sincere love of her German heritage while singing and dancing on their Summer European tour. Meeting and staying with German families and making new friends was something many may not experience, but our 29 Youth Group members, truly cherished these great life moments!

Throughout the inside hall of the German Family Society, eyes were smiling with pride and happiness while watching the pictures presented while Kristen narrated. Memories came alive as she shared their travels, stories, and sight seeing experiences!
Rudy Stagl, President of German Family Society, welcomed everyone with words of his German American background and why we continue, "to this day and in the future", the rich history with each and every current and future GFS member.
Thank you to all that came out to enjoy this event including the delicious meal, live band, dancing, and especially friendships! Thank you David Hall for taking the wonderful pictures below.
